The Coffee Plant, or if you want to call it by its latin name, Coffea Arabica, is native to Ethiopia and can live up to 100 years, but are most productive from ages 7 – 20! With its full, dark green, wavy leaves and eventual flowers/coffee beans, this plant will not only bring a little bit of the outdoors in, but will provide you with a free source of natural coffee!
Naturally growing on the sides of mountains, it thrives in high humidity, indirect bright light, moist soil, high temperatures and will grow up to 6 ft. tall indoors. This makes them great to place on a desktop, bookcase, cubby or small nook in your home that is well-lit, but doesn’t get direct light. If you keep them happy and thriving in these conditions and hand pollinate them, they will reward you with some fresh coffee beans and beautiful, tiny white flowers!
