Commonly known as the Umbrella Tree, or the Weeping Fig Tree, probably because it is a cousin of the Fiddle Leaf Fig! It is native to the lowland rainforest and savanna woodland areas of Africa and with its huge, ribbed, heart-shaped, vibrant-green leaves the Ficus Umbellata will bring that feeling of eutierria into your home!
Being that it’s from a lowland forest environment, it thrives in moderate to high humidity, indirect bright light, warm temperatures, slightly dry soil and will grow up to 4 to 10 ft. tall indoors. This makes them great for to place on a desktop, bookcase, cubby or small nook in your home that is well-lit, but doesn’t get direct light. Over time this plant may lose some of its leaves, but don’t be alarmed, this is just a natural occurrence in the plant’s life cycle.
