Commonly known as the Zebra Plant, though that is a very common name for various houseplants, the Calathea ‘Freddie’ is an intermediate-level plant native to tropical rainforests in South and Central America and the West Indies. With its long, broad, bright green leaves and contrasting deep green stripes, the Freddie closely resembles the Calathea Leopardina, and will similarly bring a tropical feel to your space!
Being that it’s from a tropical rainforest environment, it thrives in high humidity, warm temperatures, consistently moist, but not wet/soggy soil, low to indirect bright light and will grow up to 2 to 3 ft. tall indoors. This makes them great for small spaces of any lighting level! Over time this plant may drop some leaves, but don’t be alarmed, this is just a natural occurrence in the plant’s life cycle.
