The Silver snake, also known as the Sansevieria Silver Laurentii, is an incredibly easy to care for plant. The pointy sage green leaves are lined with a yellow edge, but have a silvery color overall, giving the plant a mellow color scheme. Snake plants are some of the most resilient houseplants, so they can be placed in a spot with heavy foot traffic. They’re also one of the best air purifiers, storing carbon dioxide to use as energy during the day, and then releasing oxygen at night.
Even though the snake plant is native to the tropics of Africa, these plants are tolerant of many kinds of environments: low to medium indirect light, moderate humidity, drier air – making them perfect for any place in your home or even the office! The snakes are slow growers, but can grow up to 4 feet tall indoors. Be cautious of your pets and young children around these plants: Snake plants produce saponins, a toxin that can lead to a variety of side effects if ingested by your pet.
