The Fig Tree, or if you want to call it by its latin name, Ficus Carica, is a relatively fast growing plant native to the tropics of the Western Asia and the Mediterranean. With its large, vibrant green, hand-shaped leaves, sprouting figs and contrasting bright green-yellow veins/new growth, the Fig Tree can bring your garden indoors!
Occupying a wide variety of ecological niches, it thrives in moderate to high humidity, warm temperatures, consistently moist, not wet/soggy soil (moist soil when producing fruit and drier soil when not producing fruit), indirect bright light to direct light and can grow up to 10 ft. tall indoors. This makes them great to place in a really bright kitchen for your own indoor garden! They are self-fruiting as well, meaning you only need one tree to grow your own figs! Over time this plant may lose some leaves, but don’t be alarmed, this is just a natural occurrence in the plant’s life cycle.
