Also known as the Banana Leaf Ficus, the Ficus Alii is native to southeastern Asia, India, and China. With its round, dense top and its spirally arranged, leathery, dark green, long and slender leaves, it is bound to catch the eyes of your guests and be the conversation starter you never knew you needed!
Being that it’s from a moderate, temperate environment, it thrives in medium to bright indirect light, medium humidity levels, can grow up to 3 – 10 ft. tall indoors and can tolerate cooler temperatures around 45°F for a short time. This makes them great for spaces that get a decent amount of light such as hallways, mud rooms or corners of a bright room. Though they can tolerate cooler temperatures for a little bit, do not put them in front of an AC unit, that will harm the plant!
Over time this plant may produce insignificant flowers & berries that you should remove as soon as you see them appear. It may also drop its leaves, but don’t be alarmed, this is just part of the plant’s life cycle.
